I am a hapa, otherwise known as a halfie, mixed breed, hybrid kid or mudblood. At times this has confused me, but mostly it confuses everyone else.

I am a robot, only my wires got crossed, so I feel all the feelings, but I don’t know what to do about them. A broken, cranky robot.

I’m just a little bit obsessed with food and eating and cooking. I’ve spent the last two and a half years in Beijing, China, and this was supposed to document my travels and adventures. Despite my life feeling like a Wes Anderson film at times, I’ve discovered that being a grown up, even in as ridiculous a country as China, is less of an adventure and more a series of short absurdities sprinkled into the more mundane, particularly when you work a nine-to-five office job. So this is more about the food I love to make and share with the people I love.

I like to go to dinner and parties and random Tuesday mornings, and pull out tupperware containers full of cupcakes or miniature pies or donuts or jars of bacon jam all made from scratch, because that’s just how I roll. Sometimes I think I should quit my job and start a bakery or a catering business, but mostly I just think that having a magical Mary Poppins’ purse that delivers baked goods is good enough for now.
